She survived gender-motivated violence, yet she is joyful, bright, and fully alive. She finds color in darkness and reaches for the rose without fearing its thorns. She is not a victim. She is a survivor. She is thriving because she can. As an artist, I chose Cubism as the visual language for this work. It allowed me to deconstruct her identity into meaningful, self-contained forms, then intentionally reconstruct them into a unified whole. Every shape has purpose. Recovery is not about returning to who we were. Forced into an arranged marriage as a teenager, I spent years believing that survival meant disappearing. The frame becomes an extension of the composition, surrounding the portrait with a quiet luminosity that changes as the viewer moves.
