About the Painting

One winter morning in San Diego, I woke before dawn to a soft pink glow filtering through my window shades. Still in my pajamas, I stepped into the garden and was greeted by an extraordinary sunrise. Bands of pink, orange, and blue radiated across the sky like luminous brushstrokes, converging on the rising sun. I couldn't resist capturing the moment with a morning selfie.

This portrait is my attempt to preserve that fleeting experience. Layers of vivid color recreate the radiant light washing across my face, while fluorescent orange paint illuminates the edges of my hair, echoing the neon glow that surrounded me as the sun rose. It is a celebration of those rare mornings when the ordinary world briefly feels magical.
